Eliot (Samuel A.) is born in Boston.

March 5, 1798

The son of Samuel and Katherine (Atkins) Eliot, Samuel Eliot graduates from Harvard College and Harvard Divinity School, studies in Europe, and marries Mary Lyman, the sister of Theodore Lyman Jr. He lives at 31 Beacon Street. Eliot serves on the Board of Alderman (1834-35), in the Massachusetts House of Representatives (1834 & 1850) and Senate (1843), as mayor of Boston (1837-39), and in the U.S. House of Representatives (1850-51). Eliot dies on January 29, 1862, and is buried in Mount Auburn Cemetery.
